Hi,
We want to go on holiday to the Royan area for 2 weeks from around 26th July. We need accomodation for 4 people - 2 adults and 2 children aged 9 and 11. Happy to stay in a static caravan, lodge or gite. Can anybody recommend anywhere please?
Thank you.

We have stayed in St Georges de didonne - a short walk from Royan. We stayed n a friend's cottage, but there is a really nice looking campsite near the beach0

Thank you, I'll have a look at the website. We haven't been to the area before. Is there plenty to do for the family?Make £10 a day in January 2014 - £39.68 / £3100

How old are the family? we had a few super holidays in that area some years ago - but we love most of France and especially the seafood. The oyster beds around Ile d'Oleron are interesting, you can go on a short boat tour of them, all in French though.lowonmoney wrote: »Thank you, I'll have a look at the website. I'm asuming you will have a car, take the ferry across the Gironde and drive through some the well-known vineyards, down to Bordeaux, round the corner and up the other side. Visit a Chateau and buy some wine on the way.
Go inland to Cognac or Jarnac and visit one of the finest brandy houses, they all do good tours with samples at the end. Courvoisier's my favourite.
ISTR the road from Marennes to Rochefort via Brouage is interesting, wild flat country, salt flats and plenty of birds and other wildlife.
The old town part of La Rochelle is good too.
So many good memories - you've made me want to go back! The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
And there are beautiful beaches. And in a typically French way the town was regularly organising events like music festivals, town parties, beach events (We went sea kayaking on a free event)0

When the kids were much younger we stayed at the Bonne Anse camp site in a mobile home.
It was probably with Eurocamp but I don't really recall.
Anyway, what a great place, the kids cleared off after breakfast and we only saw them again when they were hungry. They even complained when we had days out

I stayed there too - a good few year ago, though - but the location was perfect and the site very nice.0 -
I know this is an old thread - but it came up in a search and seems useful to me.
Does anyone have any more recommendations for things to do in this area? We have two children age 10 and will be in the area for 3 weeks.
Thanks
