What counts as building works on property information form?

Options
My solicitor has gone home for the day so can't ask her and google isn't helping me tonight.

I understand the obvious examples e.g. an extension, knocking down walls etc but wondered if anything else is included. Specifically knocking down and removing an old garden outbuilding and keybloc paving the drive. I'm guessing it doesn't but wasn't 100% sure.

too many comps..not enough time!

What is the question being asked? Building works is any works involving building, but i guess that takes no one further forward.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

What has happened to solicitors today? Gone home by 6pm?

If you cannot wait until 9:00am just be conservative and add it all. They can then decide to discount it if they wish.

The question is "Have any of the following changes been made to the whole or any part of the property (a) Building works e.g. extension, loft or garage conversion, removal of internal walls." It's on the law society's property information form.

We haven't done anything like that, only knocked down an old shed/garage and key blocked the drive. Personally I don't think that really counts as building work, but wondered what others thought. I will check with my solicitor of course when she's in.

No need to be sarcastic, it's a forum to ask for others' experiences/opinions. As it's a standard law society form it seems reasonable for me to ask if others have any more idea than me.

OK. I would put in 'knocked down old garage'. It is not really relevant but it shows that you have read the question

If I recall correctly from previous threads, "Property" includes the whole of the land as well as the building itself, so you need to look at the specific wording of the question to see what they are asking about.

I also recall that planning permission may be required if you have repaved the drive with non-permeable covering.

Ask your solicitor before you fill the form in if you are unsure.
