Jet2 Admin Fee Ouch

Went to print off boarding passes & realised had made a mistake on daughters surname. Phoned up & got hit with a £70 fee there & back plus £5 fee because flight prices had changed. Yes gone down not up.

Is there a contact number I can use to try & get money back? Took them less than a minute to do. What was worst was person on phone was having a good laugh with her colleague about it.

Her name hasn't changed though, has it?

Jet2 have a pretty poor track record when it comes to changing typos for free (as in, they won't do it). Apparently new EU regulations will put a stop to this practice although that's no help to you now. Chalk it up to experience and double-check your details next time before clicking 'Confirm'.

The fee is for a name change, why should it apply to correct a simple mistake when her daughter's name hasn't changed?

  • Phoned above 0113 number but said I had to phone 0871 number. Put that in saynoto0870 and got this number, 02030598330. Phoned them up but no sorry can't have refund. :(

    Cheers for replys so far.

    what sort of a mistake?

If it was a couple of letters the wrong way about or a letter missing they should change for free

If was a different surname then the charge is correct

I haven't done it with Jet2 but I have with Easyjet; the trick is to not do the change online, which will automatically charge you, but to use whatever phone number you can find that doesn't cost a fortune and speak to someone who will hopefully do it for nothing. I'd say you have little chance of getting a payment you've already made (and agreed to make) refunded after the fact.

Read the first post again, the OP explicitly says he phoned up Jet2 to ask for the change. And as I mentioned earlier, they have a track-record of not wanting to change typos free-of-charge, whether you call them or not.

As for easyJet, they are much more flexible and will change most error without charging.

the trick is to check your data entry properly before hitting enter. An expensive lesson. Don't think you have any chance of getting back monies already paid.

I have just done exactly the same thing - my surname is Henson and in a rush i typed Hensn for one of my children.

After calling 0800 408 5597 and being on hold for 56 minutes before answering - they changed it within a matter of seconds.

I have even just received email confirmation with the new booking and can print off new boarding passes.

Not sure why you have been charged but i definitely didnt have anything to pay.

Hope you get it back as its a bit unfair for you to be charged and others not.

I did book a holiday package over £4k with them and not just flights so not sure if that made a difference.
