Digital TV choices

Hi all,

I will be moving house soon to a house that does not have cable (Virgin Media). I have been a VM customer for several years as I used to be an engineer in the Telewest days.
What I would like to know is, is there a website that will allow me to enter my broadband/tv/phone needs and generate suppliers/packages and prices?

Other than the usual freeview channels the only other ones that get a hammering are Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and the Disney Channels.
We could rely on mobiles, and our internet useage is high from steaming tv etc.

I never even realised BT had a package lol

    Hi Paul,

What will be your internet line speed at your new house?

  • Hi Vision Man,

It says it will be at least 1mbps based on house number and post code.

  • Checking via EE and Tiscali sites it is suggesting I would get around 4mbps

Well thats internet television out the window, then. So I agree with penrhyn. Sky would be your only viable alternative.

1M is no good for BT Vision. It needs a stable speed of at least 2M.

If you want all the extra channels they are now offering, you'd need to get BT Infinity (which has a minimum speed of 15M). It's not available in all areas yet.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I may be showing my age but it's possibly the ten minute freeview - if it still exists lol
