Couple of points to add, firstly just amplifying what Jess has said which is there is a full illustrated step by step guide on the gambling board which takes you through everything, and lots of help available.

While this is still on the DFW board there is one thing that has to be said. Firstly people have got into debt from gambling (real gambling) and it's a serious problem. Matched betting isn't really gambling in any real sense, it's a process similar to stoozing of extracting money from introductory offers, and the only real risks are external - basically if you do it wrong - and minimal in comparison to the gains. However if you have had gambling problems, and don't feel that you would be able to keep to the discipline involved in matched betting, then don't start. On the other hand we have some ex-gamblers onboard who have learned from matched betting that real gambling doesn't pay.

As a general rule, if you're in doubt ask before placing a bet and don't be in too much of a hurry to get going. The first bet you place is heartstopping, but you soon get used to it. And we have two of the nicest and most helpful board guides imaginable in Misskool and Jess, as well as one thoroughly miserable old scroat who is best avoided.

dont worry Jo, i read it time and time and time and time again and only then did it start to sink in.

have a look around the forum and the newbie questions thread. try following some of the questions re particular bets and that may assist in understanding.

    good luck to all.

And actually, matched betting is a lot like sex.

The first time you do it, you're really nervous and a bit rushed and you realise later that you didn't do it nearly as well as you could have done. Then you really get into it and you can't get enough, you do it day and night, whenever the opportunity arises. Eventually opportunities start dropping off but you do it every now and again out of habit without thinking too much about it.

And obviously if you're not careful and don't take precautions there can be unexpected consquences...
