in Water bills
Had a water meter for two months and actually found it to be quite expensive. There are two of us in a three bedroom semi-detached house we tried our best to reduce the water we used. As a regular gym user I shower in the gym rather than at home wash up once a day and washing machine is used 2/3 times a week. Our bill was about £30 per month which over a year works out lower than a annual bill though by about £50 and you are getting charged for water coming in and also what goes down the plughole and VAT on top of that. A lapse in concentration it will cost you.

VAT is not charged on domestic water charges.
Metered or non-metered, you are still charged for water going down the plughole i.e. sewerage!0 -
How many cubic metres are you using?
Do either of you take regular baths?0 -
do you leave the tap running when washing your hands or cleaning yout teeth, it's quite easy to waste quite a lot of water if you don't think about what you are doing. Take shorter showers or even instal a water saving shower head
Try reading the meter weekly and see what you can do to be bit more frugal
There are two of us at home all day (3 bed bungalow, washing 2-3 times a week, dish washer etc) and manage to get through about 80cuM a year and we've got an automatic garden watering system as well which is on for six months of the year. We pay £27 a month with Anglian WaterNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I would have thought 2 months was too short a time to tell. There are plenty of ways of being smart with water. Showers not baths, spending less time in the shower, using a washing up bowl, washing a pile of crockery not just a cup, not having the tap of full blast when brushing teeth, only filling the kettle a short way, using a quick wash on your washing machine.
This site has a great comparative video on saving water. The best thing is in my opinion the fact you get extra time too from doing this:
http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Heating-and-hot-water/Saving-money-on-hot-waterPaid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0
