Hi I hope someone will be able to help me with this.
I've recently changed back to my maiden name by Deed Poll. Do I need to change the name on the deeds of my leasehold maisonette with Land Registry, or will it be enough to keep a copy of my Deed Poll document with my copy of the property deeds?

We have an FAQ which explains what is required -f you have any questions with regards how to complete the form or the evidence we require then Contact Us“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Land Registry. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
Thank you. I did send off the AP1 form, and an original deed poll, but got a reply saying I needed to get passport photos and two other original documents and get a conveyancer to sign off to certify that I am who I say I am. Is this correct, there is nothing on your FAQs that say this.0

Sorry, ignore the previous, just read it all and understand now.

Hi Deb,
Sorry for hijacking your posts but would appreciate your advice. I'm about to change my name my deed poll on divorce but I don't know which website to use. There are so many offering the same service at different costs and there's quite a bit in the net about rogue traders. Can you offer and advice on which company you used and how you found the process/experience? I want to complete this process asap. Many thanks.0 -
Hi Deb,You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

You don't need to use any 'paid-for' service. I downloaded a free template, completed and signed it (and had it wintnessed), and have used it for passport application, change of title on Land Registry, and notifying all others of change of name. Easy, free and painless.0

You don't need to use Deed Poll to revert back to your maiden name!! Save your money.
You can revert back to using your maiden name at any point. If an organisation needs a papertrail of proof then a copy of your Decree Absolute and a copy of your birth certificate is perfectly acceptable. Deed Poll is an unnecessary expense and a bloody rip off if you ask me!
You only ever have one legal name and that is on your birth certificate. Any other name you adopt throughout your life is just a pseudonym. You had me at your proper use of "you're".0 -
Just for info:
My Bank demands evidence (deed poll) of my change back to my maiden name. I have just last week had to purchase a copy of my birth cert., and I asked the lady at the registry office about deed poll, and explained I wanted to be known by my maiden name.. she asked if I had just divorced, I said no my husband died 6 years ago. She said I would need a deed poll in this case.
She advised it would cost £33, and the official site is deedpolls . org . uk. However, I have spoken to a few people who have changed their name using other sites charging around £10-£20, and they have had no problems at all with their paperwork.
Interesting it can be done for free though... I will definitely look into that.)
They say you only live once. If you live like I do, once is enough. :beer:0
