Double glazing quote from safestyle (North East)

Options
I'm actually quite bemused by this, its a larger quote (work wise) than my previous ones and has come in cheaper :/

Pair of french doors 228*180
Kitchen Window 105*180 (1/3 sash bottom open)
Bedroom 120*180 (1/3 sash side open)
Bedroom 2 105*125 (1/2 sash side open)
Bathroom 90*140 (1/2sash bottom open) tough/pattern

All chrome handles
£2260 for the windows/doors fitted
£692 building work (need lintels and bricks cutout)

£2952 all inclusive

Previous quotes were (without bedroom 2):
£2800 and only B rated
£3200 + 300 for lintels

From 2 local indies

Thinking one more maybe, warmseal as they've been recommended by a friend.

What do you guys think?
Area is North East (newcastle)

Is the lintel and brick coming out of your 6ft doors (6ft window out) Price is ok looking at the other quote too . Imposible to say properly on how difficult a fit . Priced on £300 a window and £1000 for french door your about right

aye the lintel is for the kitchen and above the doors, theres an army/soldier course just above both of them. so would be an L shaped girder above both I would imagine.

Got recommended another local company by the builder that was round earlier they're gonna pop round later today/tomorrow.

You mention quote, we had a Safestyle "salesman" call recently, he refused to give a quote only giving a "sign it now" price valid here and now, not valid for a month or more and wouldn't put anything in writing. He came out with the usual nonsense where he gave a stupidly high price followed by a call to the office which resulted in a new offer which was a third of the original price... He was incredibly rude and aggressive and was shown the door.

So, did you get a real quote in writing with a period of validity?

He said he couldn't give anythign in writing but left his number and let me copy down everything he had. He said price was valid for 12month. No phoning the office or managers for discounts or anything like that.

I was expecting like you had the pushy arrogant kind but was pleasantly suprised, bloke was really canny lol
  • Thanks for the update, we had heard of a 12 month quote from Safestyle but the salesman wouldn't offer anything except sign now or else I am off... Not the way to sell anything, let alone windows and doors!

Safestyle, Warmseal, Everest, Anglian....these are national chains that I would not touch with a barge pole.

I would always suggest a recommended, local, fitting company with access to good quality windows that meet, or exceed, the accreditation for new home building. (Many windows manufactured today fail to meet these requirements).

That done, go for the longest guarantees possible on all components, (Glazing, profiles, ironmongery, and fitting). Then see the companies falling by the way side as they fail to meet the grade you have specified.
  • Hi There,
You can get a double glazing quote from this address, it will give you an idea of what you should be paying.

I have just had a local firm (family friend) to come and measure up and give a quote for double glazing. I have old sash windows and although they look pretty from afar they are not in good condition and I feel that buyers will want double glazing. I also am hoping it increases the value of the property for selling next year.

I haven't got the faintest idea how much to expect of the quote, he is putting it together and will contact me next week.

Sorry haven't got measurements but am wanting 3 large windows, two small windows and a non-PVC door which needs a doorframe and skylight apparently (I can leave that out if need be).

Hoping it will be around £2000 mark otherwise not sure I can go ahead

I'm in North East too OP
