i never realised this thread would make me laugh so much..

if they let my mum drive they wouldnt even get on the motorway, she's partially sighted :D i've always said its the blind leading the blind when those 2 get in a car, also lets just say i dont allow my children to go in a car when my dad drives either!

i think i might suggest they go to cornwall, it sounds safer than tramps and cheesy wotsits! .. now then can i book that through quidco :D lol
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A

partially sighted and amsterdam, i'm not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing
  • For route planning look at https://www.viamichelin.com

For cheap(ish) ferry crossings from Ramsgate to Ostende look at https://www.transeuropaferries.co.uk. Ostende is about an hour closer to Amsterdam than Calais, and this service is a step back in time. Trans Europa is a weird but memorable experience!

We often drive from the uk - Amsterdam we use norfolk line ferries you often get car+5 return for £40 :j

    http://www.norfolkline-ferries.co.uk/en/dd-passenger

The ferry sails from Dover - Dunkerque then its about 1.5/2 hour drive to Amsterdam.

    Have fun!

We've just returned from a driving trip to Amsterdam via the wonderful Bruge. We went with Norfolkline from Dover to Dunkirk which was the cheapest at the time and is closer to Amsterdam than Calais. ON the way back we drove direct from Amsterdam to Dunkirk and it took 4 hours with one quick coffee stop.

The main problem in Amsterdam is that there aren't many hotels with parking and public car parks are very expensive up to £30 a day so we decided to stay in a very sweet B&B 15 minutes from the centre by the very efficient bus service. We parked the car in the driveway for the duration of the stay and the B&B was a fraction of the price of a hotel and much more fun as the couple who owned it were such characters.

If your Mum & Dad decide to drive to Amsterdam I can recommend the parking at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. It is underground and very secure. Very reasonable rates and a return tram ticket is included. And very easy to find as it is on the way into Amsterdam.

The drive to Amsterdam is not too bad, the worst bit is navigating round the Rotterdam ring Road! Mind you I managed it the second time round! :rotfl:

I seriously would encourage them to use Eurostar as this would be the most sensible way, taking into account their health. Failing that Cornwall is lovely this time of year lol.
