amsterdam in a car ?? eurostar?

Hi,
my parents have decided they want to go to amsterdam for a midweek break (dont ask! lol) anyway my dad is unable to fly due to ill health and can only travel on the ground. so my question is can they get to amsterdam using eurostar leaving from ashford?
they have left me the wonderful task in booking it and arranging a 5* hotel so any help would be extremely greatful!
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A

You can get to Amsterdam from Ashford - but you'll have to change trains to do so.

You could also travel into London, take a train to Harwich & ferry to Amsterdam

He'll probably do well to obtain a satnav system that incorporates europe. Also, you would need to give due consideration about where the car would be parked whilst in Amsterdam.

Fairly easy drive from Calais - Eurotunnel leaves from Folkestone though, not Ashford

funny you should mention a satnav but he did have one til he took the ferry to spain and ermm left it in the car and they nicked it :rotfl: idealy he could do with a hotel with parking as he is also disabled bodied as well as mind :D im not even sure if they do such a thing as i know they are quite into their bikes (apparently)
calais doesnt sound like a bad idea i shall see if i kind find a route

We just booked our ferry from Dover to Calais and used our Tesco Vouchers (Clubdeals). We are actually going to Center Parcs in Netherlands... so will be doing some (part) of the same drive as your dad.... Will wave to them if they are still lost when we go!! :p

Will take the biscuits and a map.... although.... lets admit it.... the biscuits will be eaten and the map unused..... Unless of course your mum drives.... at least she will ask for directions!! ;)

a few years ago i did harwich to the hook of holland in the car, fairly straight forward until you get there, parking is an absolute nightmare. ended up parking in a residential area and endured a long walk into the centre everyday! if you are looking at 5* you may be lucky and get parking all in, some have underground parking.
i've also been by eurostar, but thats a long story which involves tramps, and cheesy wotsits in brussels and pick pockets on the train to amsterdam, and not much sleep. never again!
