Trials and tribulations of insuring with Insurethebox

Hi all! I'm new to this forum malarkey, so I'm just going to share with you the problem I'm having, and maybe hopefully someone who has shared similar experiences with me can give me a hand...

I have been insured with Insurethebox for a few months now (only been driving for 6 months), and I haven't had a problem with them. In fact, I felt very proud of my driving when I logged in to my customer portal to see I had "won" bonus miles. It really is the little things that get me going...

HOWEVER, I am now in a position where I'm trying to sell my car because I can't afford the insurance, MOT and tax that are all rolling in at once this month. As I can't pay to drive my car, I've inevitably lost my job. So I think I'm doing the right thing by selling it.

I have emailed my insurance company (I don't have a phone that I can use to call them, and I am told a written confirmation is needed) and informed them I wish to cancel my policy. But seeing as Insurethebox is an insurance which uses a telematics device installed in your car to monitor your driving performance, they will need to send an engineer to my house to remove the device.

The issue I'm having is that I've emailed them a number of times last week and today to tell them I need someone to come over to have the device uninstalled, but no one is getting back in touch with me.

To top it off, prior to my intentions of selling my car, they emailed me to tell me there was an anomaly in the telematics device, and they need someone to come take a look at it. Apparently, If I don't contact them to arrange a time for them to do so, they will be forced to cancel my policy on the 25th of this month.

...WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON? ):

I have been contacting them, I have tried to arrange a time and day, but no one is getting back in touch with me!

So now I'm wondering what the best option is to take. As I've told them I'm cancelling my policy, should I cancel my direct debit with them and just...sell the car? If they're not getting back in touch with me, it's not my problem if I sell the car and they have to go on a wild goose chase to have the device removed. Are they being awkward for any reason that you can think of? How do I even arrange any premium that I'm owed, or anything like that if they're not even getting in touch with me?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading through my babble. :)

No, Dont just cancel the direct debit.

Cancel and arrange the removal in writing and send it recorded delivery, Give then 3 days from receiving the letter to get back to you then wrote them another letter " FORMAL COMPLAINT . Then i would just sell the car with the box still fitted. You gave them enough chances to get it back.

Have you checked what the cancellation charges are? It maybe more than letting the policy run its course. But you cannot do that if you sell the car.
