Gifts for men argh

This month I need to find a gift for my husband for Father's Day....he suggested pyjamas and he wants a game of thrones book.

It is also our tenth wedding anniversary at the end of the month and I'm stuck for ideas. He has bought me a watch.

Any suggestions? Does anyone else struggle too?

  • What's wrong with pyjamas and the game of thrones book? There are several game of thrones books, start with the first, and work your way through and that should sort you out with a year's worth of presents.

I always appreciate a Subscription to a fave magazine.
Amazon have regular watch sales, The G-Shock watch usually goes down well with most blokes, also a Leatherman makes a good gift.

Yes, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday next next week I have Father's Day x 3 (my Dad, FIL, husband), my parent's wedding anniversary and our wedding anniversary. I am not only stuck, we don't have much spare cash this month.

Does everybody buy their husband a present for Fathers Day and, if so, why?

It's from my kids and makes no difference 'whose' money it is bought from. It originates from the same household pot. Once the kids are old enough to have money coming from a different source than out of mine and husband's wages it will be bought by them out of their genuinely own money.

Perhaps now is a good time to start teaching children that 'presents' doesn't always have mean spending money on yet more 'things'. Your children could make daddy toast and tea/promise to tidy their room, clean the car or a whole host of ideas.

My DH and I don't buy anniversary presents, we do something nice instead - that fits our budget.
In fact we don't buy each other xmas or birthday pressies either:D :we have small home and too much stuff in it already and if we really want something we buy it for ourselves. Saves a lot of stress/wasted energy and money. We have plenty of ways throughout the year to show our love and affection and sometimes that will mean spontaneously buying something for the other when we are out and spot something.

I do realise some people love the whole present buying/giving thing though, so don't lob your empty wrapping paper tubes at me:D. This is just a suggestion for people who find it a stressful pointless merry-go-round and don't realise they can get off.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

I bought my husband concert tickets for our anniversary and roped in a friend to go with him so I don't have to deal with it :rotfl:

Is the book he wants one of the novels? There are also some really good "factual" books about the series, I got the HBO series companion for christmas and it is lovely, or there are loads of clever related things on Etsy he might like (I especially like the prints which look like opticians charts but are actually well known Song of Ice and Fire sayings like these:

Do you know which characters are his favourites?
