the make of tyre is not important as for the tyre keeping on the road think again, the only thing that makes a car start stop steer and stay on the road is the person behind the wheel
That is true to a degree I suppose in that if you know your tyres have rubbish grip in the wet because they're made from recycled bakerlite you can drive to accomodate that.
But I'd say over 50% of drivers have new tyres put on the car and don't even think about how they may perform in different conditions.0 -
Hi, can anyone advise on whether insurance companies need to know if I have upgraded to winter tyres? Are they a modification? Will it nulify my insurance?0

If you look in your car handbook (the official manufacturer one), they will give a tyre size option. As long as you stick to those sizes, then the insurance companies do not count it as a modification.0 -
bought my tyres from tyre savers online for last few years
ordered online at cheapest price I could find
price includes delivery and fitting at your choice of local garages
sweet
tyre compounds are compromise of soft for grip and hard for wear
hence I don't like Continentals - too hard = last forever but drive like skating on ice permanently
I also jack up my tyre pressures in summer and lower them in winterWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

I need 2 new front tyres & 2 new rear tyres not to far behind them.
Should I stick with Bridgestone for about £130 each or go for winter tyres? If I go for winter tyres I would be looking at cheaper brands as Bridgestone would be nearly £900.
If I went for winter tyres I would have to do all 4 at the same time wouldn't I?
Its a 4x4 if that makes any difference to whether I could change the pairs seperatly.
The size is 225 / 65 / 17 (R / 101 / S).
First time I've ever had to do this as a single woman & I'm a bit out of my depth here.0 -

two places i found are camskill.co.uk and valuetyres.co.uk, both are friendly and quick to respond.
Forget getting the fitted prices as most local garages charge less.
Ordered Dunlop Sp Fast Response 185/55 R14 for my Saxo VTR.
Two versions of same tyre but newer/more expensive ones are economy C rather than F. Great reviews on these tyres too.
Also, if your like me and own a car that does not have centre caps, you will struggle to get one of their partner fitters to balance the tyres as they require a special tool which most don't buy as it costs £800.A wise man once said "go to moneysavingexpert.com" :money:0 -
I just thought they were very good, no need to be synical about it. Saw a set of Pirelli Diablo Strada 120/70zr17 and the 180/55zr17 for £137.00. Let everyone else decide rather then pre-judge!!0
