Blacklisted phone

I bought a Nexus 4 on Ebay on April 8th and paid via PayPal.

3 days ago it suddenly started saying no service and I've discovered that it is blocked thanks to a CheckMend report.

I'm 100% sure it was because of the previous owner because I've not done anything. But how do I find out WHY it was blocked?

I would like to get a refund but I'm not sure PayPal will accept me just saying it's blocked because I need to prove that it was him?

Anyone else experienced this

Thank you!

So if you can get a CheckMend report for the handset, and these reports are recommended by ebay (who are the same company as Paypal, then why do you think that Paypal won't accept this?

You were sold a handset that is unfit for purpose.

Because I bought it on April 8th, how will they know it wasn't me that got it blocked? I just wanted to get some proof first but you think I'll be ok with just the report?

Doesn't the report say when it was blocked?

You have 45 days from purchase to open a dispute so you are out if time. Your best course of action is to ascertain if your card company will entertain a chargeback.

As above, you're out of time for a dispute, so will have to find another way of getting your money back.

If you have a report stating it's been blacked, that should be enough. Seller probably waited until you could no longer open a dispute and then preported it lost/stolen to claim on their insurance.

I'd contact the seller and tell them you want a refund!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Thanks. I'm trying to email the seller but Ebay won't let me. Just tells me "We're sorry but we couldn't find an answer for you. Unfortunately, this seller is unable to respond to your question. We suggest reviewing the item again to see if your answer is in the seller's listing."!

    Useless these days.

edit: managed to track down his personal email address on a domain lookup

Pinkshoes could be right here (re the seller waiting then claiming) so is there anyway you can contact the network, tell them you bought it in good faith and have had use of it from (date of sale) to (date blocked) and you are now concerned that the phone may have been blocked and that an insurance fraud has now been committed.

Presumably you have information on your ebay account which shows the sale?
