Hi all,
I defaulted on a vodafone bill a few years ago due to a dispute, I later settled this account however the account is still showing as defaulted but has not updated since june 2012 (the date i settled). Vodafone have accepted that they have a 0 balance left on the account however the people are have spoken to dont seem to understand what im saying which has made me very frustrated! I have been told that as this is showing as not settled it is going to effect my chances of additional borrowing on my mortgage which is quite an inconvenience as we are hoping to make large improvements to our home in the future. Am i right in the thinking that as this is settled it should show as settled on my credit report and only Vodafone can correct it?
I have other creditors on there of which I have settled which say settled however I have not defaulted on them.
Many thanks

Yes, it should say somewhere on the entry that it is settled/satisfied.
The different CRAs represent settled accounts a little differently on their reports. Some say settled under the account balance or status, some also show it as an S or equivalent in the monthly status codes, while others do not. Some show settled in one section but show the £0 as the final balance in the other.
Can you post up a screen-shot of the entry (name and other personal details blanked out)Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi im unsure of how to do this. It shows up on equifax as a d and then the gaps are blank from june 12. it doesn't say on there anything about a 0 balance.0

OK. That is wrong.
They need to update it to show that there is no current balance outstanding, and that it is settled/satisfied.
They are obliged to mark it as such under the Data Protection Act, as otherwise it is not an accurate reporting of the account status.
Now you can go a formal complaint route, but may be quicker first to contact the vodafone forum rep who posts here.
Email them via: http://goo.gl/5xNtj and give them details of your complaint and a link to this thread.

These will equally have an impact on your application for further credit if recent.0 -
These were from a few years ago however I had never defaulted on them and I closed the accounts as I did not use them very much. I have seen an adviser who feels that my credit rating would be good had it not been for this issue with vodafone! :-(0
