  • Hello DFW321! Lovely to see you again!

We definitely won't be having children any time soon - OH was gifted GTA V from his 'fun money' today so I don't see him leaving the tv for the foreseeable future! Hahahahahaha! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: oh dear!

So - i decided I might fill out a PPI claims for my old credit card so this is due to go off this week - so we'll see what happens there and I've got my response to the DCA full and final offer to send off (print off tomorrow) as well.

Last bolognese from the giant cook-athon has officially been snaffled this evening by us. :p mmm, tasty! now feel a little bit naked without the support net of all the freezer food so I'm going to do some diary juggling to see when it could next be done and going to read through some cooker books and online tomorrow for some new recipes to try. I always seem to find new recipes cost more though - because you need more base ingredients that I don't have in my store cupboard so I will have to be careful with the range of outrageousness - so no truffle shavings on my bolognese at this point!

Other than that - I have put away the other 700 from the OH into a separate account not to be touched till the response from the F&F comes back and then it'll go there - that's the best option.

So - i'll keep everyone updated - ps - loving all the positivity I feel on MSE tonight! :T Who thought debt-busting would be enjoyable? :kisses: x

  • OMG - I'm watching Dealers on 4OD and I am absolutely horrified - not with the dealers - they're doing they're jobs and they're salesmen we know what to expect from them! But form the people visiting them.

I just watched a man pay an extra 300 quid on a car because it was his daughter's dream (as pushed by his OH) - well why not - lets wait a week and darling daughter can go out and do a weekend job and earn the 300 quid to put towards the car or maybe we can't afford it dear daughter, let's get you a cheaper car rather than one we actually can't afford!

Or the man trying to buy a range rover when he has 18,000 on another car to pay off at 400 per month  because, you know, he can justify it because it's a range rover!!!! (granted he did walk away form this sale!!!)

I'm amazed!!!! It's just my way of thinking but I couldn't ever buy a car at full price - second hand all the way!!! But the fact that people HAVE TO buy cars for themselves or their children or whatnot - it just exacerbates the idea that we are in a society which encourages irrational spending even when we can't actually afford to do it!!!

I'm sorry - my mouth is on the floor at the moment watching people buying cars!!!!!!! haha!!!! next time I buy something I'm going to whack the cash on the counter and say 'take it or leave it' - and then maybe add 'buster' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hahahahahahaaaaaaaaa!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Man you make me laugh! Oh Ryan.......! :D

Sounds like you found a show that highlighted the dysfunctional views on money and finance that seem to be causing havoc with this country (and one or two others!) at the moment. It's a shame that so many are getting themselves into a mess and don't realize it. Makes you want to run out and try to get people to have their LBM!! Oh my, I feel like a MSE/DFW missionary........let's go knock on some doors, starting with anyone with a range rover on the drive! :D

Haha! makes me so depressed - its that consumer culture lifestyle we've been indoctrinated into!!!

Well - I took the plunge and started the DFW baking and sweet treats club!!!!! Its here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4770942

In other debt-busting news - a SFD for me today! whoop! also posted my PPI claims questionnaire and also my response to the DCA's response to my F&F settlement offer.

So I'll keep you all updated on what happens when I hear back from them!!!

Apart from that, just enjoying myself on MSE while OH lives in Los Santos - his GTA 5 world!!!!!!!

Supper tonight will be the same as last night - some meat from a chicken I roasted, a feta salad, boiled new potatoes, slice of leek quiche and the final slice of choccy cake.

Got lots of red peppers for a quid at the market so got to do something with those too this week. Thinking maybe fajitas tomorrow!! Nom nom! :D

  • I've got a bit of car envy atm i'll admit! My neighbour on one side has just bought a nearly new Jag, the other side they've bought an Audi :( and there's me in the middle with the beaten up volvo :rotfl:I would also like a L-R or R-R but just putting on my mse hat :money: every time I think about tax, mot, insurance & petrol for it I think again :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Haha! My OH has car envy and goes on the BMW website and builds his own spec 5-Series - "oh - look hun this ones got the alpina wheels" :p !!!! It generally comes out at something ridiculous like 60 grand!! But he has to put up with his 1997 version for now! Maybe when he's 40 we'll get him a 2010 model!!!

My aim for the defender is to get one that's so old it's exempt from road tax and we can do all the repairs ourselves - the OH is a dab hand at mechanics and fitted new suspension onto his BMW!!! I like a man who can work with his hands!!

But then I'd also love my old car back which I sold which was a sporty type - can't have 3 that's ridiculous!!! So a choice - one day in the far future will have to be made!!!

But for now - I can concentrate on making sure that today is a SFD by going straight home when I finish work and making supper - hmmm, might do some searching for a chicken and red pepper meal idea that isn't fajitas - I have some tortillas in the fridge but they've been there for over a week! They can't still be OK to eat? Can they? . . . . .

Is it home time yet?!!!!! :o
