Is this a fair price for a boiler install?

Hi all,

The boiler has finally packed up so our local installer (who has fixed the knackered boiler on a couple of previous occasions) has quoted the following:

Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 @ £1154 including Flue and VAT
MAGNATEC 22mm @ £100
Install including power flush @ £400

Total - £1654

Any thoughts?

Thanks guys.. I think I will. I'm not sure of the boiler though. It gets pretty grim reviews but this installer recommends them and says that complaints will come from the minority.

Any thoughts?

All the reviews are anonymous. There is no proof a reviewer even has the product/service. How can you believe any of them?

Who would you more believe? Anonymous posters on t'internet, or your local trusted gas safe registered engineer?
Or don't you trust your local engineer?

If you prefer a different boiler, I'm sure your engineer would install that for you if you wanted (and he agreed it was suitable)

Your question was whether the installation cost was fair. That should not really change (much) whatever boiler is finally agreed upon.

Btw, I hope its not the same installer as this one

I thought these boilers now came with long warranties - that should give you peace of mind

7 years... but I suppose people are complaining about having the boiler repaired so soon after install

I have several of these boilers in my properties - never had a single problem
