You obviously didn't watch the TV programme following Blackpool's emergency services as they went about their business. Most people only see the Prom etc but go about 200 yards inland & a whole different world exists. What a dump!0 -

I live in Blackpool, always have, and I don't disagree with you. The deprivation is on a parr with many other towns in Britain that have lost or are losing their main source of income. However, that side of the town is easily avoided and would never spoil a trip with kids.
OP, if you're happy with the prices, I'd recommend Devere. Set in its own grounds / golf course, next to the Zoo and Stanley Park.
You can easily walk through Stanley Park and carry on West to the Town Centre/prom. In the opposite direction, 300 yards east you are in the middle of a countryside SSSI.
Or as mentioned above, the No 1 on the corner of Lytham Road and St Lukes gets good reports. Walking distance to the pleasure beach / tram ride into town.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0
