Ebay dispute

Hi, just looking for a bit of advice. I sold a digital camera the other day and posted it off. The buyer has contacted me today to say the item is not fit for purpose because I haven't sent a USB cable or card. I never mentioned that these items were included in the sale and the picture was just of the camera. I asked Ebays advice and they agree I never mentioned these in the sale I replied to the buyer and stated that I never mentioned that these were included but they've come back again saying they are an integral part of the camera and as I had stated in my listing that it required 2 AA batteries but didn't mention the usb or card that she had 'reasonably expected that these would be included in the sale'. If it was me I would never assume something was included in the sale if it wasn't mentioned. Its a really old camera and the listing started at 99p, sold for £6. What do you think I should do? Thanks!

  • You DO precisely ....nothing !

Ignore any emails, and avoid any more grief for £6!

Ebay agree with you, and what next? Cameras don't come out the factory with a memory card and if you didnt mention any accessories the person presumed wrongly.

Everyone has a spare usb cable lying about or can come by one for about a quid (that is, if people still use them to transfer pics from the card as the card can be directly plugged into a pc nowadays).

For £6 you can't even buy a fish supper and can of cola! Getting a second hand digital camera for that is rather good!
NB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself"

Thank you both for your advice. i was stressing thinking i had done something wrong but i would never assume something was included and like you both say why would a memory card be included for 99p? just hoping they don't leave negative feedback. I've got 112 positive they have 10. anyway thanks so much for your advice. Ebay drives me nuts sometimes.

I sold a razor with 1 blade i got for christmas.

Buyer asked where the extra blade had gone - as the ones in Tesco had 2. I pointed out mine had one, i stated one in the listing and the picture showed one on the packet. But she said she had assumed the one stated was an extra one on top of the one supplied, and i was wrong to mention the one that came with it anyway - as everyone knew there was one - as it would just be an handle without.

After going back and forth - i told her to return for a full refund and never heared anything again.

Got a pair of dead batteries, broken sd card (preferably one which deletes images silently), and a spare different USB lead? ... :D:D

You do have to wonder sometimes with people assuming the sun, moon and sky is included when not stated. I guess the obvious answer is to state everything that is not included now, instead of included, there goes a massive listing!

Think if I'd bought a camera off ebay I'd expect it to include a usb lead and disk so I could at least use it, unless the listing stated they weren't included. Without seeing the listing it's hard to second guess how misleading it was, or wasn't. But considering most of you sell on ebay I'm not too surprised to see you all siding with the seller for passing on some useless junk.

Tbh if it was me whilst i wouldnt expect a memory card i would expect it to include the usb cable which is imo an integeral part.
But then again i would ask if unsure..

Would you also expect it to include a case and a cloth for cleaning the lens even if the seller didn't mention these

Listings for second hand items generally state what is included rather than what isn't.
If something was listed as "new" or "as new" then I would expect to receive everything that came with it when it was originally supplied, but for a secondhand item, if something wasn't stated as being supplied, I would assume that it wasn't there.
