Why is bank mobile ins excess £100 for iPhone, £30 for others

This has turned into a "hate Apple" thread, not what I was asking. Daft quotes like "get an HTC", "Apple out a £300 phone and make it £700" isn't what I was asking. Irrelevant of the fact I've chose an iPhone as its not just the hardware, it's software and the integration I have with other Apple stuff makes it better fit for me.
What I was asking was, why is excess £100 on a Apple £529 phone, and £30 for a different £500 phone.
They have as much chance as me to drop it, lose it, have it stolen?
As already explained. The risk of theft is about twice as high.
Why is the insurance higher on a £20K sports car than on a £20K family saloon for the same driver? Same reason; the risk of a claim is higher, and the cost of a claim is higher if made.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Paying more just for the name?
I'm intrigued, where are you finding unbranded iPhones for less than the official price?
China.
You can buy an iPhone 4S that acts exactly like an authentic iPhone for £200. Heck, it even runs the same OS and can be updated when Apple release firmware updates. If you want, you can even have all the apple branding.
But what I was getting at is that a phone with all the same functionality as an iPhone can be bought for cheaper. Typically these are not sold in countries such as the US and UK as Apple would sue them if they tried, but alternatives exist if you want to use a different OS such as Android, and then you have the other phones such as the HiPhone.0 -

Or, if you're unlucky, you end up with one of these - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSO1KWLGd50urs sinserly,

Insurance is based on compiled statistical data, and reflects the insurance companies claims record. Perhaps Apple ownership is more prevalent amongst an age group who take less care of their belongings.0 -
Walk round a pub and see how many iPhones are out on the tables. Other brands you see this happening much less. Not only is there the risk of having it swiped, but the risk of having a drink spilt over it or it being knocked to the floor.
Also note how many iPhones you see with broken screens - it's quite rare to see an intact one! Either the phone itself is incredibly flimsy or their users are very careless with them.
Add to that how easy it seems to be to fence on a stolen one, and there's several reasons why they are expensive to insure.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0 -

As far as I know, no-one else sells the same phone, so it makes no sense at all to say that someone is buying "only for the name", but I'm happy to be corrected.
iPhones actually do less than other phones but cost more. Not the same. They also break very easily compared to other phones since they are made from glass!0 -
I disagree a bit. They will all cost a lot to repair. You can get a service exchange to replace a damaged iPhone 5 in Apple for less than £200.
Why should it just because its an Apple phone have a higher excess than say an HTC One?
Its worse, when you get it back it will still be an iphone and not an HTC One

The insurance company have to send the Apple Iphone back to the manufacturer for repair that is why.
There is nothing special about Iphones, to be honest there are much better handsets out there at less cost. But some people are like sheep and just buy it because it is an apple!0 -

You know, that's a fair point actually, I keep seeing people using iPhones with broken screens but never any HTCs or Nokias...
I'll keep my HTC Windows Phone ta.urs sinserly,
