Moving house sky question re phoneline

Please can anyone tell me we are about to move into a rented house for a year. Currently we have sky (11 months into package) and the landlord said he has a sat dish all we needed to do was plug in our box. BUT his isn't connected to a phone line. Will our sky work?Should we take our sky dish with us and keep it for the house we are building?Any advice much appreciated.

If there is a dish already there then he is right, all you have to do is connect the box up. If there is a phoneline into the house you will have no problems in connecting the sky box to this if you are intending on having the phone connected. The sky will still work without this although sometimes important upgrades are carried out by sky through the line and you need to be connected to a phoneline for the 12 months minimum anyway as part of the sky contract.
You won't need to take the sky dish to your rented house although there should be no probs if you want to keep it stored to take with you to your new house. Personally I would pay the extra for a new sky dish at the newbuild and have it installed properly by a qualified engineer.
