I've had a Whirlpool washer drier for over 10yrs now & always been more than happy with it. It's never gone wrong or given me any kind of trouble & I'll happily buy another when this one has finally had it.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I replaced me 'separates' with a washer/drier when I moved for space saving reasons. The WD is pants, will only dry a small load at a time and seems to take twice the length of time than the standalone drier did. To save my sanity and wallet I hardly ever use it..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I bought my Hotpoint W/D last year from Comet Clearance, and bid £115 for it;)
I've had no problems with it - it came with a years guarantee if there were any probs. Also mine has the same load for washing and drying: 6KG.
I put the washing in when i leave for work, and it's dry when i get in :rotfl:
Although i don't use it all the time - trying to save £s - so use the bannisters some of the time.:j0 -
Had one since move in with b/f (now hubby) 11 years ago apart from the only taking 1/2 load on dryer setting issue which I think the newer ones don't have we've had no problems with reliability, it's starting to make a few odd noises now, but still works fine.
I think seperates are more energy efficient though.0 -
I got a Hotpoint one which I bought 3 months ago. Maybe it is not as quick as the separate one, but it does the job. Had Aristom in previouse place, and it was ok as well. Our kitchen is so small, that there would be no way to put separate machines, and a combination works well. Also - I don't like drying things to stone hard, as I like to air them a bit to let the last bit of moisture and if it is not raining, I would take my clothes out for a little bit so that they smell much more fresh. In all honesty - I wouldn't buy two separate machines as I do like having the facility to do it all at once - put the load, set the program, press the button and you can go out. When I come from work, it is all ready.
The model I got dries and washes the same amount of clothes, so there is no nead to remove part of the laod. Even with the previous model we had the the load was supposed to be halved for drying, I usually didn't bother... All clothes are still fine.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
We had a washer/dryer installed when we fitted a new kitchen. I wish we hadnt bothered - it's been used twice for drying.
You have to remove half the washing before you can begin to dry it. Also the washing when it is dried does not smell freshly washed - it smells stale and like wet laundry!!
If you have the space, go for separates - if not - stick to the washing machine and hang your washing on the line or clothes airer!!Expect the worst, hope for the best, and take what comes!!:o0 -
I've got a tiny kitchen so went for the washer/dryer and have had no probs with it - i rarely use the dryer tho, i prefer to dry on the washing line.
i do tend to use it for a quick dry of the towels once they've come off the line, makes them lovely and softOfficial DFW Nerd no: 563 - Proud to be dealing with my debts:j0 -
Hi all,
When re-designing our kitchen we want to try and save as much space as possible. My mum thinks combined washer/dryers are not very good, does anyone have any experience? Also, is it possible to get these in integrated into the kitchen units?
Thankyou.
We've got a Hotpoint washer dryer which does neither task all that well, that said it's 12 years old and has been super reliable, until the bearings needed replacement last year (£7 who knew washing machine parts were so cheap?)....
From what I've heard all washer dryers are a bit of a compromise. The money, Dave...0 -
Ok, our washer dryer yesterday gave up the ghost. Our second one in 11 years. Can anyone recommend a reliable replacement? Is it worth getting a WD or is is more eco friendly to dry on radiators, etc? We are a family of 4 (DS1 is 5, DS2 is 2 .. I am a bit scared of going it alone with a washing machine ...) Meant to say our current one is an Ariston Margherita ... has already been repaired once ... and our last WD was an Ariston, too. Guess I won't be choosing Ariston, then ...That's Numberwang!0
