Does anybody know of a device which you can use to backup your pictures from an sd card whilst on holiday? Something small like an Ipod, where you can just slot the card in and copy to a hard drive?
Does such wizardry exist?

Yikes philnicandamy! A little expensive.
mostly, the problem is not running out of space on the card, its because of card failure. Last time I was away my card went haywire and I had to format it and hence lost my pics. I'd like to be able to backup daily so if anything goes wrong I don't lose too much.
I remember seeing some device that would back up your phone sim card numbers, so I was wondering if a similar one exists for sd cards.0 -
The card-to-disk devices are very expensive these days relative to the price of cards. I generally carry spare cards (xD cost more than SD, but even then only £13 a gig) - haven't hit a dodgy one yet, but if I did, would go back into the suitcase for a bit of recovery when I returned home.0

Are there devices that can copy SD to SD without a pc? That would be a good substitute0

Is this any good?

Or you could just take a laptop with you, if you have one!0 -

Its a card reader with a 3 different USB connectors on it (the black wire that has been cropped by the pricture border goes to a small micro and mini USB plug). So it may be possible to stick a spare card in it and then connect it to the the camera (or your phone containing the full micro SD card-obviously not everyones phone takes the same cards) and back it up. Its only a tenner. If i get one ill give you an update.thanks

Unfortunately this probably won't do what you want it to.
USB has an asymmetrical architecture, and it cannot function without a host device (such as a laptop's USB port). Both the camera and your card reader will almost certainly be slave devices, so if you connect them together, nothing will happen.0
