Carpet faded after 6 months. Different colour where furniture has been.

    All carpets will fade when exposed to sunlight and wool and natural fibre carpets are more prone to fading than the likes of polypropylene.
    Although looking at your photo it does also look as if it is also partially the flattening of the pile and hovering will not significantly improve the condition in the short term although it should improve over time.
    Had it been a small area such as where a table leg had stood leaving an ice cube in the spot does help the pile rise again.
