Hi thewaltons.What do you need the line for?If its just for calls would it not be simpler to buy a cheap couple of dect phones?Have one plugged into the main socket and the other you can place wherever you want.

We only have one main socket - at the moment we have a line trailing right across the house like a trip wire, causing several injuries a month!

That's the point of (cordless) DECT phones - one base station (plugged into the BT socket and the mains) and handsets wherever else within the house you want them. No trailing wires.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
