Can you ever be charged for exceeding tmobile data?
Hi. I was chatting with tmobile online in January. They told me I could never be charged for data as my allowance was for streaming music and video. When my allowance was used up I would still be able to use photo based activity such as facebook and web browsing, the connection would just be slower. So I took out a contract with 250mb, 300 mins inlts texts. Iphone 4s. £21 pm. (I don't stream music or video)
Fast forward a few months and I've been charged an extra £20 this month for data! After contacting them. They said that some plans introduced in Feb have a hard cap now, but some don't. She said my contract doesn't say it has, apolgised for then giving me misinformation prior to taking out the contract and upgraded me to the full monty 500 mins unltd txts and data for free with a £5 permenant discount. (so it;s still £21) Great ! Amazing customer service..:T
But I still don't understand their data policy. I've looked at their T and C's but they contradict themselves. Does anybody know ?? Thanks

They used to let you go over your limit and just limit your speeds and just let you browse and block any downloads/streaming. This still applies to customers on old tariffs.
Recently they updated the tariffs to have a hard cap and you get charged for going over.
But it's good to know you've got it sorted now.
Also, for anyone else reading this thread-
If you are buying a smartphone that is new e.g the S4/S3. Then get at least 500mb data minimum on a contract. Even if you don't use streaming/downloading but plan on using the internet once a day for the news/facebook etc... then 500mb will be the bare minimum you need in this day and age.0
