tin hat ready....
No money has been refunded into paypal and the packaging consisted of a white paper envelope wrapped around the item and a grey mailing sack around that.
They are normal first class stamps and I dont think there is any room on the packet to put any more without obscuring the address.
I have just looked at their stars and they are now down to 4.3 for post and packaging.0 -
If you think that overall you've been ripped off then it's up to you, star accordingly. But it's only a couple of quid more than you paid - if it's well packaged and wrapped with it being a heavy item, perhaps it is a more or less accurate cost? Inevitably there's usually a bit added on by some sellers for, I dunno, food consumed to provide energy to get to get in the car to drive to post office, but it might not be as far off as you think.
...Dont forget the price of their shoes so they can walk to the car :rotfl:BargainJunky wrote: »I was under the ironing board as I was starting the thread and I've already borrowed my sons bob the builder hat!

Well, to me that speaks for itself, would have no hesitation to mark them low on p+p.0 -

The seller probably used stamps, instead of pay at the PO, so you would not notice the excess postage.
Obviously not aware of the lengths some buyers will go to, to fill their own miserable lives with a sense of importance.0 -
I missed the fun of the previous thread. I've said this before in similar threads. But here goes again.
When I buy an item on ebay, there are multiple decisions to be made. One such decision I make is, do I buy the item or not. Another decision I make is what stars to leave for p&p charges. These are separate, partially independent, decisions.
My decision of whether to purchase or not is based upon factors including the total price including p&p. I always check the p&p and factor this into my bid.
However, when I decide how many stars to give for p&p, then this is based on the p&p charges. So, if I have two different cases:
£10 purchase price + £2 p&p
and
£4 purchase price + £8 p&p
then I'm equally likely to buy. However, in the first case (assuming £2 is reasonable p&p) I'll give five stars for p&p. In the second case I'll give lower stars, maybe three or even two, for p&p.
I've posted this before and received angry responses from sellers criticising my policy. But I've never received a proper reason why I shouldn't base my stars decision for p&p on ... the p&p. And that's why I continue to do so.
It's like being at a restaurant. Let's say that I order a meal, and everything is astoundingly delicious, except for the bread served with the soup which was stale. If someone asks me to rate the meal overall, I would give it a very high rating. But if someone asks me in particular what I thought of the bread, I'll criticise it and rate it lowly. It doesn't matter if there's a sign in the window saying 'we serve stale bread with our soup'. It doesn't matter whether the dish is described as 'soup and stale bread' in the menu, if someone asks me what I thought of the bread ... I'll tell them what I thought of the bread.
It's the same for p&p charges on ebay. If I'm asked specifically about that, then I give my opinion of that component of the entire purchase.0 -
Have you contacted the seller?
I would message them saying that you were surprised to see an extra £2 added on for p&p when their packaging had only cost a few pence, ask them if they had made a mistake in the listing.
I would then base the stars I left on their response, or lack of it.0 -
I do exactly as RHemmings. If I want an item then I will buy it whatever the P&P charge, but I reserve the right to purchase it AND ALSO be p1ssed off at overcharging.
I have read all these threads with angry sellers telling us what we SHOULD be doing and how we SHOULD be marking their stars, but at the end of the day I am going to mark them as I see fit. I am also a seller and I know exactly what P&P costs.
I am actually perplexed as to why a seller should think that I am going to behave the way they think I should. Eh? I am going to behave the way I see fit - every time. I can be as illogical as I want, and I can be as unfair as I want. Does anyone imagine that these threads are really going to change how a buyer feels? It really isn't rocket science; a seller has no control over the behaviour of a buyer, and therefore a seller can either take that into account or carry on being amazed, upset and angry at their buyer's reactions.
Personally I have all my items listed with 'free' P&P.0
