Halifax/Lloyds/Bank of Scotland

Options
recently opened 3 x Lloyds vantage + 3 x B of S Vantage.

Registered for Internet banking with Lloyds and B of S, but have justed used my old Halifax logon details and they work with B ofS. Shouldn't they also work for Lloyds ? (Theyare all part of the same set up aren't they ?)

Which route did you use to open your 3 BOS Vantage account if you try to apply while you are logged in it just sends you to an offline application form which states you can only have one current account

No as Lloyds are a separate bit of the banking group, where as Halifax and BOS are part of the HBOS.

So you can see your BOS accounts on Halifax and your Halifax accounts on BOS.

3 online apps, but needed to phone to clarify. They assumed the 3rd one was a mistake/duplicate, and binned it. So actually, I did it by phone.
Sometimes the B of S people think they are (also) Lloyds and sometimes not. Once a Customer adviser could see all 6 accounts,, then the next time I phoned they could not

Where on the site did you apply? Did you have to apply as a new applicant? What telephone number did you use, as you say HBOS can't answer BOS account queries and vice versa. Have been on the telephone to them and been passed pillow to post

Lloyds TSB, BOS and Halifax use the same online banking system but that doesn't mean the login details would be interchangeable. I'm surprised the BOX and Halifax ones are, but Lloyds TSB definitely isn't compatible.

will wait for Lloyds internet passwords then.

    LLoyds 0800 015 4000

    B of S 0800 056 0035 (though 'should be' 08457 21 31 41)

be prepared. loads of script reading. Best to do it by phone though as online it doesn't seem t allow you 3 accounts.

If I log in using the BOS website I have to use the BOS user ID and passwords. If I log in using the HBOS website I have to use the HBOS user ID and passwords. I suppose you could change passwords for both websites to be the same but I can't see an option to change your user ID which on the BOS site is all numbers!

"your user ID which on the BOS site is all numbers!"

no, the BofS site (for my new BofS vantage accounts), accepts the same login details as the Halifax site. It is NOT all Nos, but a combination of letters/Nos

    strange

Yes definitely all numbers (9 of them) they sent me the username in a letter when I opened the account. Will mention when I ring them but at the moment I save it on my computer which is secure

At integration in Sept 2011 the HBOS login details were migrated on to the Lloyds system so you had a login for both brands. The Lloyds system always issued 9 digit user ids so that's what you now get if you sign up for online banking with either Halifax or BoS. If you open a new account or click forgotten username then your old style username will be changed to a Lloyds style user id.
