I see that many of you are knocking Renault. To add my pennysworth - I bought a 1996 Diesel Espace eight years ago. It has been a wonderful car. I have travelled around Europe for the last eight years and the mileage is now 176,000. The fuel economy has been excellent, the ride on long journeys superb and no major faults. I am intending to buy a new car in the next couple of months mostly because of the age of the Espace and the fact that now I have various electrical problems - only now when the car is eleven years old!
The only reason I will not be buying another Espace is because I no longer need such a large capacity MPV and think that a more modern vehicle will be both more economical and environmentally friendly.0 -
I had a 2 litre petrol automatic.
Very comfy car but it drank petrol.
Electronic timing got knackered twice, causing car to cut out at low revs, very dangerous.
In it's last months Air con packed in.
As has been said in virtually every review of the scenic the 2.0 auto is not the best of the models, and these experiences are not unusual, just common to that particular derivative.
Air con needs to be used or it will fail! The seals will dry out as lubricant is carried as a vapour in the refrigerant gas and then it all leaks away.If normal atmosphere and moisture gets back in the system corrodes from within.
Loads of cars have failing aircon at this time of the year. Its not been run all winter and when turned on surprise surprise its got no refrigerant left. The luxury end of the market that has climate control rather than aircon tend to default to the "on" position to try and avoid this.
Don't be put off, keep looking!Fiscally responsible or just a tight git? :
