So what about the MSE Debate members?

As we're quite an opinionated bunch, "don't know" is not an option. ;)

Well, you don't need a poll for us lot.

I can tell you now that the majority will state YES.

Another poll in another part of the forum may well show something else. But here, the majority appear to be pro-EU.

    Not so sure about that.

On the current status quo, Im 100% leave the EU. Its the biggest, undemocratic unacountable waste of money the west has seen for a long time.

It's also a great free trade organisation.

The question has not been asked in the way in which I would answer it (not Mr Pricklpants's fault - that's down to Sky).

If asked if we should stay in I would say yes as an answer to a pure yes/no question.

If asked if we should seek to renegotiate our obligations under membership that would be an emphatic yes.

If we failed to reach a satisfactory negotiation then I would say no to staying in, but as a last resort.

I think it is pretty clear to everyone that the EU is not working. What isn't clear is how we should go about rectifying things. I don't think anyone who is seen as pro-EU wants to maintain the status quo. As Gen says, it's a great free trade organisation and we shouldn't lose sight of that.

    Very well put, vivatifosi.
I voted yes, but at the same time also recognise many EU institutions are bloated, inefficient, badly run and a total waste of space, time and money.
However this should not be a reason to exit an important and massive free trade area.

That cannot be disputed but we seem to be hurtling towards a federal europe which is what a lot of people object to

Longer term I would question that. Once the competition is squeezed out then fat margins can be made. Resulting in higher prices and less choice for consumers.
