As it's to do with our shower..I thought I'd put the thread here. However, I think there are elements of it being an electricity problem. Anyway.
Our shower, which previously had problems with the solanoid (we think it leaks and shorts that particular bit, which makes it refuse to switch on - we've replaced it 2-3 times in the last 3 years). This is fine now (until the next time we need to replace it). However, now the shower won't switch off unless we turn off the main fuse in the cupboard outside the bathroom.
The shower itself (in the shower) is set to the off position, but then it continues to pour water out. We first noticed this a week or so ago when the shower would just suddenly turn on for a few moments, then off again (while the dryer was going - it seemed to kick in when it changed to a different part of the cycle). This happened a couple of times, then it stopped switching off. The shower was off at the time, and just started pouring water. Anyway, now we have showers by turning it on at the fuse, having the shower, then coming out to turn it off - bit of a pain really.
So..do I call in a plumber or an electrician? Or do we need a whole new shower unit? We don't know much about these things..but it would be nice to have a shower we could rely on!

I would contact your utility company, or your water company, to see if they use a local firm; or even British gas for a one off repair.
They won't be cheap, but you are unlikely to be ripped off as happens so often if you find someone in Yellow pages.0
