How long to wait?

Options
wife and i booked a table at a restaurant in Falmouth, 7:30pm, not busy, two tables (four people) on desert and coffee.

One other table on starters, and one other ordering (four people)

we arrived 7:30

7:35 menus arrived

7:40 ordered drinks and meal

7:45 drinks arrived

8:15 no meal yet - not asked if we wanted more drinks or nibbles

8:30 no meal yet - asked how much longer - told it was just coming

8:35 meal arrived - not hungry now just aggrevated

8:50 finished meal - no apology from owner but they did refund our drinks

meal cost £27 for a small piece of grilled fish on new potatos, and a kebab with sweet potato chip - not terribly complicated

would you be happy to wait one hour plus fort hat?

(tripadvisor had mixed reviews - should have checked it before going i guess)

I would edit,...desert or dessert? If you don't know the difference?....and there is more.

One hour and twenty minutes for a meal and drinks to be ordered served and consumed is quite normal.

Perhaps the were waiting for the food to defrost a bit before reheating in the microwave.

This is one thing I hate about eating out, most food starts frozen and precooked. Then defrosted and reheated in the microwave.

I would rather cook my own and know it is fresh.

it only took 10 mins to eat - the rest of thr time we were waiting with nothing - nothing to eat, nothing to drink (we asked for a jug of water - never arrived) and that was it - never askedif we wanted anything, weren't told how long we would have to wait - restaurant only had two other tables ordering besides us (four people)

as soon as i have to ask where our order is i loe my appetite and it spoils the entire experience

    No it's not.

A restaurant with 30 covers on a busy Friday night would be hard pushed to serve sixty people during service using your ill-informed logic.

OP, MSE appears high on search engine listings so please tell us the name of this rubbish restaurant

SOME restaurants use frozen and pre-cooked food. None of the ones I worked in did though. That's why food prep took up to five hours for a two hour service.

The other day we were in out local pizza hut for 2 1/2 hours!

Ordered food just before 5. Meal delivered on time, were ages waiting for bowls for ice cream, asked once told they were waiting for the dishes to be washed (fair enough) but they forgot and had to ask again. Ate dessert and then waited another 20 mins asking 4 staff members just to put our left over pizza in a box to take home.

There were 2 of us (my son and I) the table in front of us had 6 people they came in after us (when we were half way through our main) and left just before us!

I would have complained but as we ordered off the cheap happy hour menu, I didn't like to.
