Chargeback for entire cost..?

Hi there,

I have unfortunately dealt with another dodgy company recently and need some advice re: claiming back.

I booked a place on a friend's hen weekend and paid the deposit (£52) on a credit card (Woo!) - I then paid the remainder amount I owed (£90) for my place directly from my bank and not on my credit card (Boo! Stupid I know but there was a charge!)

Now, the company have been placed in administration and I wish to claim back from my credit card via chargeback as the payment was under £100.

My question is, can I make a claim for the entire amount of £142, or can I only claim back my £52 deposit paid?

TIA :)

You can try to claim the full amount. What did you book exactly ? When is/was the hen weekend ?

The hen weekend was due to take place in July - it has since been rearranged and we have had to pay again.

A place meant you booked 2 night accommodation and two activities.

I'd like to try and reclaim for the full amount as then I wont have paid twice - I suppose they can only say no and just refund the £52!?

A chargeback can be actioned for the full amount. However, if the company is in Administration and hasn't actually ceased trading, you might have to wait until after the date of the event before the chargeback can be actioned. There's always the possibility another company might take over and honour the bookings.

    Speak to your card issuer.

Section 75 allows you to reclaim the total amount even if only part is paid by credit card

There are some gotchas in this but if what you booked was a package they shouldn't apply

    How come?

AFAIK, chargerback cannot be bigger than the amount actually paid by the card. It's S75 claim that can be for the full amount, but I think it's the CC provider that takes the hit for the difference.

You're the expert, but did you misread the OP? The OP only part-paid on the card.

    We're talking chargeback, not s75

You won't be able to do a chargeback for the full amount. Only what you paid for on the credit card.
    However
This is where S75 will come into play and you would be able to claim it back via this method.

Agree you are going to have to wait till the day after the event, as the company could still offer the event.
