Speeding notice not received, what to do?
Hi everyone, 3 weeks ago I was stopped for exceeding the speed limit in a 30 MPH zone. The officer said I would receive the notice within 14 days, but so far nothing has arrived. I'm worried that it has gone astray in the post, and if so how do I prove that? The last thing I want to happen is for the powers that be to think I have just ignored the notice and send a court summons. What should I do?

How much over the limit? Too much for a standard fixed penalty?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I was doing 41mph0

Did he caution you at the time? Something along the lines of "you will be reported for the offence and are not obliged to say anything etc etc"
If you were cautioned at the time then I think that counts as an NIP, if you weren't then the NIP needs to arrive within 4 days0 -
No nip is required for a stop so the 14 day rule don't count.
If you have not done a Speed awareness course in the last 3 years. 41 in a 30 mph zone will just qualify you for one.0 -
Might not have had any speed measurement equipment on board, was it a panda car or a traffic car?
No equipment means no proof, means they were probably just trying to scare you.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

As long as the car has a calibrated speedo. The officers opinion is enough to stand up in court.0 -
ain't it 6 month and 28 days for a police pull, upto 6 month to get a court date and upto 28 days to tell you (court summons)
it was last time i got pulled many years agothere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
They have to lay information with a court within 6 months.
But 41 in a 30 should not be going to court, should get offered a course if not done one. Or 3points and £60 if he has.
I would give it another couple of weeks and see.0 -
Yep, I was offered the choice of 3 points and a £60 fine, or a speed awareness course, at £84! As the 3 points would mean higher insurance premiums for the next 5 years, there really isn't any choice. Just means I won't be able to afford food for a week or so. He had a speed gun, and did say that I would receive the paperwork within 14 days. Also that if I ignored it I would be issued with a court summons. So, what should I do if it doesn't arrive? I'm fairly sure he said something about me being 800 meters away when I was clocked. Do these things work at that distance?0

Easily work at 800 metres if they have a steady hand or a tripod.
Over half a mile which is 800metres+ for some camera's. Thats why they used to say by the time you spot them they have already got you.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
