How Long To Connect Home Phone With Plusnet ?

Hi anyone have any delay moving from BT line to plusnet ? I took a broadband/home phone deal with Plusnet and after BT cut my broadband off plusnet could not get it back (why not as they are using BT service?). I was told there was an "open exception" on my line and this went on for 3 weeks with nobody willing or able to tell me why. I told them to cancel the order and took a deal from John Lewis but this turned out to also be with Plusnet!!
They got me connected in 7 working days and said BT connection had to be "manually completed" whatever that means? Why Plusnet couldn't do this before I cannot understand.
My concern now is will I get the same problem when John Lewis (aka plusnet, aka BT) try to connect my phone as it's on the same line? I've tried asking John Lewis but only got a "you could experience a small loss of service" reply which tells me nothing.
If any technical experts out there can help or any others had this problem PLEASE help. Thanks

Jumpting from ISP to ISP will make no difference, as it still BT OR who have to reconnect the line regardless.
Plusnet is a BT owned company, but run independently with it's own CS. JL broadband is simply outsourced to Plusnet. Not the same thing. Each time you change provider you go to the back of the queue again.
If you are now connected with PN, they why switch once again to JL?
Downtime is normally just a few minutes to an hour or so.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks for your reply macman but I got connected since opting for JL (probably just a coincidence). Yes the phone connection should only take a few hours or less, but the broadband was only suppose to take max 5 working days and ended up as 30 days!

Have PN agreed to void your minimum term contract without penalty then?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
