Same with ours, kelfen. He can be a miserable sod at times, but he is good - only time I've had a little card shoved through the letterbox is when I truly have been out0

Blooming Postie rammed another parcel through my letterbox today, snapping the brushes off AGAIN. Idiot.0

I can't stand Royal Mail in general (though my opinion is improving a little, as I'll explain). At my last house, and for the first 2 years I lived in this one, I'd have 'Sorry You Were Out' cards posted regularly when I was in and waiting. We'd also have various items stolen - sometimes they'd be cheeky enough to open cards, take the money from them (and the card!), and post the empty, open envelope.
For the past half year we've had a new postman. A young man that doesn't turn up until 3pm but ALWAYS knocks, always delivers everything, and is always polite. Parcels arrive in one piece, and if I'm not in and genuinely miss a parcel but arrange redelivery (usually not available for 48 hours) he'll bring the parcel back the next day just to see if he can get it to me early.
I have been wondering lately if it's the done thing to tip your postman at Christmas...do people do this?0 -
We've been lucky with postmen, all very nice and our one post lady.
Years ago who did have one who always left the post dangling out of the letter box for a passer by to take. He did this with a cheque book once!
The irony is that the guy was a retired police inspector!Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Someone asked why does a postie leave a parcel behind in the depot and shove a red card through the door.
Answer - simple. Bone idleness because that postie knows he will not be on that round/walk the next day and some other poor sod will deliver it for him or the customer will collect it.
No mail, packets or parcels are supposed to be left in a depot and managers are supposed to check the fittings and bags for left items.
But the reality is some poor agency postie, part timer or newbie will always be stitched up by his fellow workmates or managers. Some managers care more about getting door to door (junk mail) out to you than your normal mail.0 -
