Well today, rather than ring my bell, mr Postie decided to ram my package through my letterbox, snapping off the brushes as he went. Fuming doesn't cover it.
  • Never had the problem OP has had, but before we moved house the amount of different posties that were on the round each day was unbelievable. And most of them were totally clueless!
    A few times we had cards through the door for neighbours further down the street. Luckily i always ended up posting them through the correct doors. {Maybe i was a postie in a previous life lol}
Other times we had cards left with our address on but someone elses name.
For years if we did get a parcel delivered it was always 24hrs, then it all changed to 48hrs. Never saw the 'collect after 24hrs' ever again.

Where we live now we never get a WYWO card, the parcel always gets left in the recycling bin & postie scribbles on our envelopes if we have any post that day, "item in recycle bin".
Some days if we don't have any post, i wouldn't even know it was even there!!!!
Fortunately i do keep a check if i know I'm waiting for something.

This infuritates me! I've seen a postman tiptoe up the path and carefully slide a 'sorry you were out' card silently through my letterbox and then leg it up the path to get away before I opened the door!

I would've leaned out the nearest window and yelled "Oi! What d'you think you're doing?" at the top of my voice.

Worth it just to see the postie jump a mile :D

For some reason, certain people are either too stupid to ring, or have some religious aversion to ringing, a doorbell. (Why they want to bang their knuckles on a rock hard door (there is no knocker) when the can just gently push a button I'll never know.)

or they dont even do that and just wait for you to open the door.
i had a take away delivered one day and the guy just stood outside without knocking or ringing the bell, i only noticed he was there when we walked away and i saw him go past the window

    Must've been very heavy!
Now that I would like to have seen :D
 Why complain about carrying a monitor when you're strong enough to carry a bathroom??? :D

LOL, I'm guessing you mean bathrobe. :)

lol I did indeed mean bathrobe and I was going great guns until the OH decided to yap to me. Although, with how small my bathroom is it probably wouldn't have weighed much different.

It isn't the distance you live from the sorting office, it's the length of the postman's round remaining after s/he has delivered to you.

Indeed and I'm aware of that, I just meant that it's not a great distance for a parcel to warrant a 48 hour 'in transit' period.
We've had a new postman since then and strangely enough I've not had a missed parcel since.

least you was left a card, we only knew an attempt to deliver had been made when we checked the trace and track online.

We knew item had been sent Wens, got tracking number Thurs.
On checking online Sunday morning we discovered delivery had supposedly attempted at 14.20 on friday. Funny that my DD was in then as was the dog who goes mad whenever anyone even touches the door.

Concerned the card might be elsewhere and the package get collected by someone else.
I was down the sorting office the moment it opened Monday morning ... 7am
Only to be called a liar three times.... once when he told me a card must've been left, secondly when he said no one could've been in. And thirdly when i said i was worried someone else may have the card and collected our package, he replied we never let items go w/o ID. To which i replied oh yes you do I've collected stuff and not been asked. He said it wasn't possible!!!!! Errrm yes it has happened.

If they are being too lazy to bring the parcels then why do they carry the cards? Can't they just give the parcels to the man in the van?
I'm really lucky with my postman he always brings my parcels and I do order a lot online.

Mine wasn't even a parcel it was a letter, that required a signature.

That's happened to me quite a few times over the years them not ringing doorbell and leaving card when I'm in.They always say they are going to go to manager I told them I will go higher up and they gave me an address to write to.
Last month had my post put in letterbox and the parcel was left outside lucky I heard post being put in door and lucky I opened door must of sensed something was outside.Saw the postman next door and said why didn't you ring doorbell he apologised first of all he didn't know what I meant then I rang my doorbell to show him it works.
