Hi cornercottage, immortalised forever in a song, fantastic
MumofIowans, definitely try and squeeze a little something in for yourselves, I find it stops the guilt of spending if its set aside for that purpose only. Even if it's only a small amount a month, it will soon add up for enough for a coffee or a quick drink out. I also try and make the most of any time dh and I get to ourselves (very rare occurrence), it could just be grabbing a couple of cakes to sit and enjoy in peace and quiet
Not much going on here, except that its absolutely bleddy freezing! we've nearly run out of gas and we were totally out of logs so we've had to order both at the same time  I was hoping once it was March we might be able to have the heating on less. Our house is very cold, it is old and completely open plan downstairs. we will be getting a door for the lounge soon but at the moment all the heat just escapes
The mortgage has gone out for this month and we are now only £1032 away from being under £100K :T:T I cant wait to have a mortgage that begins with a 9! I wish we could throw all our spare cash at it to get it down quicker but we just have so many other projects on the go at the moment, it's impossible
As I mentioned in my last post, I managed to find some more items to ebay, 2 have bids on and 2 more have watchers :T I've also got rid of a compost bin, several bags to the charity shop, a bag of clothes to a friend and a children's bike. I definitely feel that progress is being made :T
I'm pretty annoyed at the moment, last December I opened a current account with Nationwide through topcashback. I should have got £78 cashback and today it has been declined  no idea why, I use the account and did everything I was supposed to. I was hoping to OP itMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Oooh - I remember when we went from £100k to beginning wth a 9 - it's a real mental boost!
Well done on the decluttering and ebaying too!
When cashback is declined it so annoyingFind another one to transfer the Nwide ac to which has cashback and move away asap - or maybe try M&S if they are still offering a £100 gift card - my giftcard came through quite quickly

Hi greent, yes it is very annoying, I might go through TCB to see if there is any chance I can still get it. I'm still annoyed about it but not sure I can be bothered to change bank accounts again
I've made a £40.75 OP yesterday made from ebay sales and a refund from dd2's piano teacher :T I did surprisingly well on ebay considering I was scraping around to find things to sellI need to get our Henry hoover on there as he's currently residing in the loft. I might do that this afternoon :money:
It's been quite a low spend so far, just £24 on plants for the garden as it needed a bit of colour. Still a long way to go to make it look nice but it's a startAfter getting the eye watering quotes for the patio and path we have decided to try and do something ourselves. So I have a £1000 budget to create a french courtyard type area instead. I might need to be quite creative but I do like a project
I might get dd1 involved with the budgeting and designing as part of her home ed :T Speaking if Home ed, ds is due to start school in September but I'm thinking about keeping him home too. I'm using the days where he's not at pre-school as a trial run. This morning we made biscuits whilst dd1 was getting on with her work. It worked out quite well so fingers crossed!
Right I'm off in search of Henry :T
ETA I have lodged a support ticket with TCB to see why my cashback was declined...it's worth a tryMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Just managed to pay an extra £10 OP :T I went to collect dd2 from school and I got given another £10 refund from her piano teacher...apparently I've been paying the wrong price :cool:Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Great stuff, Crumpets! :T Well done for getting under 100k and all your steals of late
Home ed garden project sounds like a fab idea :Ta penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library0 -
Thanks Pearla, we're not quite under the £100K yet but it's within touching distance :T
I just made another £40 by selling Henry so I've just OP'd it. I fear ds is mentally scarred though as he was sobbing his heart out when Henry went!:cool: He wanted to keep him for ever and ever, I felt awful
We've had a really productive weekend, I think our energy levels definitely went up with the sun coming out. We did work on the van, the garden, the kids bedroom and I did college work! :T We changed the children's bunk beds into twin beds and since then ds has stayed in his bed all night. I think he must like being able to see his sister if he wakes in the nightBecause we moved the beds, all of their lights and paraphernalia had to be moved with them so the room now needs re painting where all the holes have been filled. Luckily we managed to get a tin of paint in the reduced section at B&Q for a fiver! I was pleased with that, no idea when we'll get round to painting it though :rotfl:
I've booked us another camping trip, this one is at a local food festival and is literally up the road. This will hopefully give us the kick we need to get the van finished and as it's only up the road, if it all goes wrong we can just come home :rotfl: It was a bargain too - £42 for the five of us for two nights plus all the activities that are going on at the festival :TMortgage March 2011 £143,927.6

Morning! Happy 1st day of spring :j The weather isn't exactly spring like at the moment but there are lambs in the fields and flowers in the garden so I'm happy
It's the lovely Mr Crumpets birthday today. We are at that stage in our lives that there is very little we actually want so the only present he has is a £20 bluetooth speaker :money: it's what he wanted though and we are spending a lot of money on our van which is our pet project. That will be a big present when it's finished and we can start to enjoy it :T I'm going to cook a nice Sunday roast and hopefully we'll have a lovely chilled out day. :T Next year he will be 40 and we're looking at having a family holiday in the sun to celebrate so that will be quite a lot more spendy than this year
I've managed to make another £50 OP this week from selling DVDs and a couple of old bikes that were rusting away in the garden :T This has been my most successful month so far and the total OP is creeping up slowly:money:
I have also been spending a bit this month, but mainly on educational games for the kids home ed. All have been brought on ebay or charity shops so it could have been a lot worseI need to make more use of the free resources that are available on the net, and Mil has also lent me her laminator so I'm happily laminating anything that doesn't move :rotfl: DH was worried that he might come home and find the kids or the dog laminated :rotfl:
