We have very hard water (think tattoos, piercings and a Mohawk lol) and I manage to keep our acrylic shower screen clean with white vinegar with no trouble.

  • I live in a hard water area and I've found that as long as you do it regularly, one of those washing up sponges with the green scrubby side gets rid of all the soap and limescale very easily. I just use a bit of ordinary washing up liquid or multi-surface cleaner with it and buff up with a clean teatowel afterwards.

I make up my own multi-surface cleaner in an old spray bottle with half water and half value brand multi-purpose cleaner (the value version of flash, 25p for a litre bottle) with a capful of zoflora in it. This works great if you spray on and leave for 10 mins before using the scrubby sponge.

It does everything for me - the zoflora means it's antibacterial so it does the toilet inside and out, sink, kitchen surfaces, taps come up lovely & shiny and it even does baked on crud on cooker top and oven if you leave for 10 mins or so. Plus leaves everything smelling lovely :)
It works out at about 18p per standard sized old spray bottle that I make up.
Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!
  • The only thing I've found that cleans the water marks off our shower screen is a cream cleaner, like Jif. It needs a good rinse, and then I use a squeegee to dry it off, and it works a treat for me.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!
  • I live in a hard water area and find that wiping it down with a microfibre cloth after every use keeps it clean. I will admit that as I now live on my own it is easy to enforce, but when the family were at home it was a different matter!

I find squeezing a bit of fairy liquid on a hot rinsed cloth and wiping it over the glass then rinse with cold water then dry off works great - and cheap too!
    Every days a School day!
  • Just a quick follow-up - I cleaned the shower screen with half white vinegar, half water today and it cleaned up well.

Next time I will try another suggested method and compare them all.

Thank you to all who responded.

So many different suggestions, but I'm going to add another to the mix that doesn't require any chemicals - the bathroom ecloths from Lakeland. You wipe down with the damp thick cloth and dry down with the buffing cloth and it is the best thing I have ever used, my shower cubicle sparkles and has no water marks any more, and we live in a hard water area. It also works just as well on the chrome mixer unit and shower head, also bathroom taps and sinks. I keep the cloths in my shower cubicle for a quick wipe down after every use, so I never have to give it a "proper" clean.

Incidentally, they also do a set for windows, which are equally as brilliant! :T

They are quite expensive for what appears to be just a couple of cloths, but they save money in the long run because you won't have to buy sprays/chemicals/vinegar ever again. And environmentally friendly too! :money:
