We have just had a new shower fitted and with all the usage it has very quickly become 'opaque'. What is the cheapest, greenest way,of cleaning it?
Many thanks

Mould\Mildew remover (spray) and a kitchen sink dish cleaning brush was all I needed to get the sparkle back.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Vinegar is probably the cheapest and greenest way. I live in a very hard water area though and vinegar just does nothing, the only method I have found that works for me is to use Viakal once or twice per week. The spray and leave shower cleaners do seem to help a little too.0

When you've got it clean again, buy a squeegee and enforce the "use after every shower" rule - it cuts down on the streaks & removes the water that can cause the dullness.0

If it's very new the "opaqueness" is more likely to be soap than lime-scale. To remove either just wipe it down with a cloth soaked in vinegar and leave it for a bit and then rinse it off later if you feel like it. Those squeegee thingys are ideal for after every use.0

Lemon juice from the baking department at Tesco's. Just do it.0

I have started buying Wizz Shower Cleaner, it was only 89p in Home Bargains. Spray it on before you get out of the shower and that is is done. Has to be enforced for everyone to use after using the shower. We have hard water and it is the only thing that keeps all of the showers in the house clean.
Cant recommend this product enough
Tried vinegar etc but they were no use for the limescale/hard water marks.0 -
I use the MSE OS standard multi purpose cleaner mix: One part Stardrops, white vinegar, disinfectant and water in a (preferably used) spray bottle. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

The build up is just limescale, which is an alkali. Any mild acid will dissolve it - viakal is the commercial choice, great stuff too. Vinegar is the most environmentally friendly, spirit vinegar works perfectly.0

When we had our bathroom re-fitted last year, the man who supplied us with the shower cubicle told us NOT to use anything to clean the shower or it could harm the surface, so we've not, and we live in a VERY hard water area. When we've used the shower, we always rinse it afterwards, and spray it with anti-mildew spray. Once every two weeks or so, I use a hand spray filled with water, then wipe it gently with an e-cloth to removed streaks. It takes a while, but does the trick.0

1 part washing up liquid to 2 parts spirit vinegar to 3 parts cooled boiled water in a spray bottle works well for maintenance. I live in a hard water area and use a lot of solid bar soap; this seems to keep scale and soap scum to a minimum if sprayed on several times a week. If the deposits are established, probably best to blitz them with neat vinegar/soap mix, then follow up with a maintenance spray.0
