A lot of them these days have some sort of finish which only requires spraying with white vinegar, leaving for a few minutes and then rinsing off. Unfortunately I live in a very hard water area so the drops of clean water themselves leave white marks anyway. There is an existing thread on this somewhere so I am sure someone will soon merge them together for you.

  • I use a microfibre pad on a stick, sometimes after wiping with a damp microfibre cloth.

I swear by a product called Clean Shower which I get from Lakeland Limited. Just spray on and leave! I have tried equivalent products from supermarkets, but have not found them to be as good and always end up back with the Clean Shower.

I use soapless shower gel, rinse with the shower head when finished, run the squeezy all over to take the excess water off, same with the tile.

    No soap means no scum

A friend who has just had a new shower enclosure fitted was told to use a little bit of Fairy Liquid on a cloth, then rinse off. I would never have believed this would work but I tried it myself and it really does get rid of the greasy soap residue which can build up.

I wipe mine with warm water, a MF cloth and have some floor cleaning liquid in the water, which I subsequently mop the bathroom floor with anyway.

I've not looked back since I got a water softener. All the grot gradually dissolved, and now it looks gorgeous.

In view of this, I have also installed softeners in all my rental properties. (Most of my tenants did not have time or inclination to clean the shower.)

Now they stay clean, (as long as the tenant can be *rsed to put in the salt that I supply.) :)

I live in such a hard water area but i use a window squeeze thing after every shower .It only takes a few seconds and my glass shower doors still look like brand new.
I would love a Water Softener as kettle and taps are a pain to keep lime scale off.

You're best not to drink the softened water imho, as it has dissolved Sodium in it, and it can be bad for your heart. Harveys, the company I got mine from always fit a hard water tap on the kitchen sink. I have installed another between my bath taps upstairs.
  • I too was so fed upwith hard water causing , soap scum, taps , toilets, and tiles covered in big white water marks....
Had a water softener fitted its the best thing ever , less washing powder used , no soap scum anywhere , nice clean taps , plus shower now lasts longer than having to have new one after about 17 months use...I do also have a tap fitted for drinking water.....
