iphone outgoing calls usage..

Hi l hope someone can help me here as l am struggling to understand the usage calls on my wifes iphone...
My wife got a iphone on contract from carphone warehouse with Vodafone on sunday and a package with 600 mins unlimited text and internet, anyway one of our questions was how do we know how much outgoing calls my wife has used and has left before her next allowance and the girl said go into usage and check there what you have used and re-set on every new allowance.
My wife has had the phone one day and it says in mobile usage that her current period is 1 hour 38 mins and Lifetime is 1hour 38 mins.
Now we know she has not used that much on outgoing calls as l added them up in her calls list and it comes to 36 mins outgoing ..
So where does 1 hour 38 mins in usage come from, does this add incoming calls also...
If it does how can we get something on the iphone to check her up to date outgoing calls so she will know how much she has left on her allowance without going over and getting charged..

Also what is the difference between current period and lifetime in usage..

You're looking at the wrong thing if you're looking at the usage in the phone settings.
For easy reference she needs to download the my vodafone app and look at the usage in that -it updates every 24 hours or so as a rule, and shows how much data and call time is left until it automatically resets for the following month.

Thanks ..Is this a free app, does it cost anything to use for checking allowance.
