    No I haven't. I tried the Aldi one, it was ok-ish but nowhere near as nice as Lurpak.

    Didn't realise you could freeze butter.
    Is it okay to use for baking once defrosted, or is it only good for spreading on bread?

    It's fine for anything - and stores for a long while, too. I've found year old packs lurking at the bottom of a chest freezer that have been as good as new.

    Kerrygold is on offer at £1 a block in Morrisons at the moment, with a date in August on it. This is my favourite type as it is easily spreadable at cool room temperature.
