Butter - the great scam continues

Seen in a branch of Budgens today - Anchor butter at £1.97 per pack!

Something to bear in mind when the government next lies about the inflation rate.

ASDA. Own brand. Both unsalted and salted. £1.00.

However, ASDA SmartPrice is 98p. Only 2p less. Odd.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

Well, if you're rich enough not to mind the near doubling in price of a basic food in around 18 months, I guess it wouldn't be obvious that there's a problem.

Anchor butter has always been expensive. I do not recall it being half that price for a very long time.

I use clover myself and I cannot complain at £1 in poundland as it is usually £2 everywhere else.

Standard 250 gms and yes, Anchor butter - not the recycled axle grease flogged by the margarine companies.

Anchor has never been a top-priced butter - very lower-middle market in fact and frequently sold at around a pound a pack on 'twofer' offers until about a year ago, when the great butter rip-off really got into gear.

You cannot compare the price of a pack of butter being sold at two for the price of one and the price of a single pack today.

    No.

It is a blend of buttermilk and vegetable oils.
