Butter - the great scam continues

I buy President butter, I keep meaning to buy imported organic President but 2.99 for 250g is a bit steep. Sainsbury's flogs President for 1.70 but I've found it much cheaper elsewhere. OH has organic spreadable Lurpak to keep in fridge at work.
I don't bake as I low carb for my diabetes so butter lasts us quite a long time. I pile it into the freezer when I see offers and normally have 8-10 in the freezer.
Personally wouldn't touch Clover etc, looks like plastic, tastes like plastic..0 -
Ignoring the somewaht synthetic non-butter Clover, there's very little point in paying for branded butter.
Lurpak might be different (or so the wife assures me), but most standard slightly salted butters taste very much the same - whether they're branded Anchor or whatever. Try a cheaper one (Aldi, for example at just under £1) and if you do a blindfold test you might be very surprised.0 -
I find butter really sickly, it just tastes too greasy for me so each to their own:)
I am also so used to semi-skimmed milk now that I do not like full fat milk anymore.
One of my relations who is a nurse gives everyone a lecture every time she sees them eating butter:o I do hate that when people critisize others choices.0 -

Then your relative needs to get up to speed on current research about dairy products vs. synthetics and stop spreading (ho ho) misinformation.0 -

Butter stores very well in a domestic freezer. I am still using packs bought a year ago and there is no trace of impairment.0 -
Lurpak is 2 for £2.50 in Tesco at the moment.0

Is there an own-brand alternative to Lurpak that actually tastes the same? Haven't managed ever to find one.0
