Every Flight website i checked gives a good flight price- but there is no online option to purchase and when i phone up the price is waaaay waaay higher- in fact some the bloody nerve to claim on website ""phone for better deals on website" and sting you for hundreds more
This is first time i have used flight websites Is any of this legal as it seems prevalent to Flight industry ?

"Every flight website" you say but it sounds like you are only looking at the bucket shop sites. As you have found, most of the time these prices don't exist but are just there to entice you to call.
Personally, I'd stick the the legit search engines (Kayak and Skyscanner are my favourite two) and where possible book directly with the airlines.0 -

I second that word for word.0 -

Do not simply book based on price, the risk of getting burned is significant. By all means, use price comparison sites to find out which airline is cheapest but then go direct to the airline's website and book from there.0

Skyscanner and Kayak seem more realistic on prices - but nowt cheap there
Whilst i agree these bucket sites entice you to call -thankfully none of them have tried any hard sales pitch.0 -

Finding really cheap flights is usually a wild goose chase. Occasionally the likes of Expedia, Ebookers etc will have access to some cheaper fares classes than the airlines have left but you should always check the fare conditions as they are typically very restrictive. I would also be very wary about booking through an online agent that I'd never heard of before.0 -
Kayak can send you to some dodgy booking sites too.0

100% agree. I use Kayak to check for the best prices but I am happy to pay a little bit more if I can book direct with the airline itself. In the past where I have had to change tickets, it's been easy where you are dealing direct with the airline rather than an agent.0
