Let's assume your son is innocent, and that he 100% believes that his friends are innocent too.
In that case - wouldn't he want to say something to his friends to explain why he's only allowed to have one visitor at a time? And isn't that likely to be something like "my idiot mother is trying to catch a thief"?
Personally I'd go with just not letting the friends in the house. But if you do set up a camera, there's no point telling your son about it.0
