Problems with NS&I?

Tried opening a bond recently. Already have index linked. Tried opening online but cannot remember the password (or ever having one!). Tried by phone and was given wrong information about opening the account and sent a password reset form and was sent the incorrect form to open the account by post. Next letter asked for my signature to be verified before they can proceed (why not ask in the first letter?). Still waiting for a reply so that I can open the bond. Have been given the wrong information three times over the phone. Found out today the rate is due to drop. Hopeless.0

Exactly:T I'd lost my holder's card so contacted them by email. Had to write a letter with all past addresses. They then sent a form asking for same info. Archaic system. Then when i finally got roung to registering online the list of security questions beggars belief. Eldest son's middle name/Father's middle name/University attended /First forgeign country visited etc. Erm I don't have any children, my dad didn't have a middle name. I could answer the other two but what about people who've never been abroad or to University? Wonder they don't ask 'what date did you first taste caviar?' Need to get into the real world and update their system and attitude.QUOTE=DonnySaver;61643399]Tried today to buy some premium bonds. Tried registering online but was told I couldn't because I was already registered on their system. (I used to have some years ago but don't anymore).
Tried ringing the telephone support number - nobody answers it.
Tried emailing them. Got a response saying that I had to write them a letter telling them my name, address, bond numbers and when I bought them. Sent a reply back telling them I don't have any. Waiting for another response now but I've got a gut feeling this is going to be more trouble than it's worth. Better off putting my money elsewhere I think. NS&I customer service gets a lot of bad press if you Google for it. A lot of unhappy people out there who can't access their money.
Looks like NS&I are stuck in the dark ages. Time for them to invest in some up to date technology. Come on - who in this day and age should have to write a letter requesting any sort of account/password reset?[/QUOTE]0 -
Virtually all Government and Public Sector jobs have now been outsourced to the private sector which has resulted in even worse service than before for the customer! These outsourcing companies generally win the contract by putting in ridiculously low bids and then frantically cutting headcounts to try and make a profit resulting in terrible service for the customer. They are a bit stuck in the dark ages but that's the govt./public sector for you
