Hi,
I am currently transfer my PAYG from Tesco to T-Mobile Everyone, due to the free texts evening and weekend if you top up £10 a month.
I picked up the t-mobile sim card today. In the leaflet it says you will be given a temporary phone number. What is meant by this? I already have a number with the new sim card and i hope to use my tesco credit until the transfer day.
Also, is there much delay on the day of transfer? The guy in the t-mobile shop assured me it would be a few hours.
Thanks for your help
Karl

Basically, the temporary number is the number you were given with the SIM...
When you port your number from one network to another using a PAC code, there is a delay of usually about 7 days (could be less/more, I'm working on experience from Orange) between the number being transferred from one network to another. Within this time your T-Mobile SIM is activated with a new mobile number otherwise know as a temporary number - its temporary because that number will no longer exist when your new number comes over. What it allows you to do is use the T-Mob sim and get all the benefits in the mean time.
Generally the downtime on the day of transfer is pretty minimal, it varys from network to network - generally they say anything from 2-24 hours but its usually much closer to 2 provided nothing goes wrong.
Hope this helps0
