Beware Outlet Shopping

Just wanted to make people aware of the problems of Outlet Shopping and how the bargain you see may not be such a bargain
My daughter visited the Designer Studio in Macarthur Glen York last week - they sell Armani Exchange and DKNY
She purchased a pair of shorts that were priced at £29 and took them to the counter
At the counter the sales person told her they were marked as the wrong price on the wrong label and were £40 ..... her mistake as an inexperienced 18yo shopper was to not leave them or ask that they honor the price
She came home and told me and I was rather annoyed that she had spent so much without questioning this.... I was even more annoyed that the receipt was clearly marked exchange only
I rang the shop and spoke to the manager about the pricing issue and he basically told us the label priced at £29 was the store label and the shorts had been discounted by 50% in store
This particular outlet store buys unsold store stock and takes off the labels adding their own discounted at 30% .... therefore if you buy from an outlet you may be actually paying far more than in the store during a sale period
I am absolutely shocked that stores can get away with this although I do realise my daughter was extremely stupid and naive to accept what the store told her with reagrd to pricing
I want this to act as a warning to others

We all do silly things like this especially when we are young. I bet she will be a lot more savvy the next time. Probably a good cheap lesson in life.0

She could have put them back, she was under no obligation to have them when the higher price came up!
She's 18, an adult capable of making her own shopping decisions surely?0 -
This is a thread that should be on the Praise Vent & Warnings board.
There is no consumer rights issue here.0 -
Outlets always sell the rubbish that they can't sell in the main stores!
Clearly your daughter was happy to pay the extra, as otherwise she would have said no.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

It's the same with the M&S Outlets(shops and on-line). I frequently see things which were priced cheaper in the normal shop sale.0
